The Goddess Who Fulfills Devotees' Wishes
Perched high atop Bilwa Parvat overlooking the holy city of Haridwar and the flowing River Ganga stands the revered Mansa Devi Temple. Dedicated to Goddess Mansa, sister of the serpent king Vasuki and spiritual daughter of Lord Shiva, she is worshipped as the granter of heartfelt desires (Mansa). Devotees tie sacred holy threads on the temple branches while making a wish, returning to untie the thread once their prayer is fulfilled.
Ascending Bilwa Parvat: Cable Car vs Walking Track
- Ropeway (Udan Khatola): The most popular and effortless ascent. Modern enclosed cable car cabins glide up the steep hillside in approximately 5 to 7 minutes, providing thrilling aerial vistas of Haridwar.
- Pedestrian Pathway: A 1.5 km zig-zag paved incline with stone stairs. Recommended for morning fitness enthusiasts and young pilgrims (approximately 30 to 45 minutes walk).
Composite Combo Ropeway Passes
Usha Breco (the ropeway operator) offers economical combo tickets that include cable car rides for both Mansa Devi and Chandi Devi, along with shuttle bus transfers between both hill bases. Haridwar DMC arranges pre-issued fast-track group tickets for corporate and family groups.
